St. Pius X Parish Festival

The St. Pius Parish Festival took place on Sunday, August 24th on the grounds outside of the rectory.  God blessed us with a perfect day for this event.  Clear skies and temperatures in the low 70’s.  There was plenty of food and fun for parishioners and families.  The number of people helping set up and clean up was amazing with students and families from Jordan and Alleman Schools.  I don’t have all of the names, but I do have to mention the Hoffman and Olson families who can always be counted on to help.  Members of our clergy, Priests and Sisters, were in attendance all afternoon to meet and talk with parishioners.  Allouez Council 658 arranged for all of the food and food preparation. Surprisingly, the cost of the food did not go up from last year.  Thanks to the generous free will donations of the festival participants, there was no cost to our council.  There was food (burgers, brats, hot dogs, coleslaw, chips, and cookies) for 300 people.  We served approx. 250 meals.  At the end of the day, there was very little food left over which was taken to the Christian Family Care Center.  Thanks to all of the ladies who helped with food preparation in the Jordan School kitchen, thanks to Brothers Louie Alongi and Jim Wieland who served food all afternoon, thanks to Brothers Pete Doyle and Kevin Hoffman who stood over a hot grill all day cooking the food, Brother Andy Olson worked the popcorn machine all afternoon, and thanks to Jordan School employee Nancy Young who is always there to get our food order together and opens “her” kitchen for our use.  It was a very pleasant day for participants and workers.
