About Our Council
Allouez Council was founded in 1902 through the efforts of the Dr. J.P. Cometys, T.F. LaVelle, J.T. Shields, J. Geiger, E.J. Burns and H.V. Burns. It is named after Reverend Claude Jean Allouez, who was a famous missionary Jesuit during the 17th Century in Illinois. The Allouez Council works closely with St. Pius X, Sacred Heart and St. Mary Parishes in Rock Island, providing funds for various projects with council members being active participants in their parishes.
Allouez Council meets the second Thursday of each month, 7:00 PM, in Farrell Hall at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island.

Council Activities
Our council hosts a large number of council activities throughout the year. See the Allouez Events & Activities page to see the details of some events scheduled in the next couple months. Also, see the Donation Options page to see what charitable causes we are currently requesting donations for.
Annual events and activities include:
* Intellectual Disabilities Drive (Tootsie Roll Drive)
* Rock Island Police Officer and Firefighter of the Year Awards
* National Day of Remembrance – Mass for the Unborn
* Coats for Kids for Children’s Therapy Center and Skip-a-Long Childhood Center
* Aid and Support After Pregnancy (ASAP) Toddler Size Coats for Chloe’s Closet
at The Woman’s Choice Center and Bella’s Boutique at Pregnancy Resources
* Sir Knight Larry Quane Memorial Respect Life Pancake Breakfast supporting local
pro-life agencies
* Seminarian Support – Vocations Raffle
* Flag Retirement Ceremony at the National Cemetery on Arsenal Island
* Lenten Fish Fry.
Our Council also places over 300 US flags at homes and businesses in Rock Island and Moline for five flag holidays of Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Veterans Day as part of the Breakfast Optimists Club’s Avenue of Flags program.
